Membership Levels

EERI offers a variety of membership types for both individuals and organizations. Find out which one is right for you! (All membership levels except student run the calendar year.) Please note that only Regular Members, Young Professional, Retired, Honorary Members, and Subscribing Member Representatives have voting privileges.

Individual Membership Levels

Regular Membership Yearly dues are $295. Regular Members are entitled to vote in the yearly election of Board of Directors, to hold office, to serve on committees, and to actively participate in the Institute. Annual dues include electronic access to the online quarterly journal Earthquake Spectra. The option of receiving the printed journal costs an additional $60 per year (for international members additional costs are $100 per year).

Affiliate Membership Yearly dues are $190. This category of membership is available only to individuals in developing and less developed countries (click here for a list of developing countries). Affiliate members have the same benefits and privileges as regular members except for the right to vote. Annual dues include electronic access to the online quarterly journal Earthquake Spectra. The option of receiving the printed journal costs an additional $100 per year.

E-Affiliate Membership EERI offers an electronic category of international membership called “E-Affiliate” for new EERI members in identified developing countries only. The dues for this category are $25 per year. Its benefits include the following:

  • Access to the online newsletter and membership roster
  • Access to reconnaissance reports and to two papers per issue of Earthquake Spectra
  • Member rates for all conferences and meetings
  • Opportunity to participate on EERI projects and committees

Student Membership Yearly dues are $25. This type of membership does not include voting rights. Applicants must be full-time college students working toward a degree, with a valid interest in the objectives of the Institute. Annual dues include electronic access to the online quarterly journal Earthquake Spectra. The option of receiving the printed journal costs an additional $60 per year (for international members additional costs are $100 per year). At the time of graduation, student members are eligible to renew for one free year of EERI Young Professional membership. 

Young Professional Membership Yearly dues are $150 (first year is free to graduating EERI Student Members whose membership has not lapsed). EERI Young Professional members have been employed for five or fewer years in their field. Like Regular Members, Young Professional Members are entitled to vote in the yearly election of the Board of Directors, to hold office, to serve on committees, and to actively participate in the Institute. Annual dues include electronic access to the online quarterly journal Earthquake Spectra. The option of receiving the printed journal costs an additional $60 per year (for international members additional costs are $100 per year). Retired Membership Yearly dues are $150. Applicants must have five or more continuous years of EERI membership and be 65 or over. Annual dues include electronic access to the online quarterly journal Earthquake Spectra. The option of receiving the printed journal costs an additional $60 per year (for international members additional costs are $100 per year).

Other EERI Membership Types:

SSA Affiliate Membership
Individual members of EERI may also choose SSA Affiliate Membership for the nominal amount of $85 per year. SSA Affiliate Members receive online access to Seismological Research Letters (SRL) and inclusion in/access to the SSA membership roster. EERI members seeking full benefits of SSA membership, such as meeting discounts, voting privileges, and access to the Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America (BSSA), can upgrade by logging in to SSA's Members' Area.

Corporate/Organizational Membership Levels

Institutional Subscribing Membership Yearly dues are $600. This category provides an opportunity for libraries, universities, and public agencies to receive an online subscription to Earthquake Spectra and the same EERI publications that members receive, as well as reduced fees for one representative to attend Seminars, Annual Meetings, and Continuing Education Programs. Subscribing Membership EERI Subscribing Membership is an opportunity for private firms, corporations, and other organizations to pubicly demonstrate leadership, commitment, and support for EERI's mission. Applications will be subject to a vote of the Board of Directors.   • Diamond, $25,000
  • Platinum, $15,000
  • Gold, $10,000
  • Silver, $6,000
  • Bronze, $4,000

Subscribing Members receive the following special recognition and privileges:

  • Company name highlighted in each issue of Earthquake Spectra and list Subscribing Members in the printed Membership Roster.
  • Exclusive opportunity to exhibit at EERI Annual Meetings and to receive exhibit space at a discount at national conferences.
  • Bronze Subscribing Members may designate up to four complimentary Subscribing Member Representatives (three Regular and one Young Professional); Gold and Silver levels may designate up to six  complimentary Subscribing Member Representatives; and Platinum and Diamond levels may  designate up to seven complimentary Subscribing Member Representatives (five Regular and two Young Professional).  Each Subscribing Member Representative receives all privileges of the corresponding paid membership category, including the right to vote and hold office. Subscribing Member Representatives also receive one free Regional Chapter membership.
  • Subscribing Members receive complimentary registrations to EERI Technical Seminars and Webinars, based on level of membership. Bronze level members receive one free registration, Silver level, two, Gold level, three and Platinum level, five.
  • A Member Profile, showing your logo and describing your organization’s purpose, staff, and involvement, is provided within EERI’s web site with a link to your own web site if desired.
  • Each new Subscribing Member is presented with a handsome, engraved perpetual plaque at the Annual Meeting, during a special reception in honor of Subscribing Members.
  • Each year the Board of Directors demonstrates its appreciation at this private reception by providing Subscribing Members with an engraved brass plate that attaches to their perpetual plaque.
  • Subscribing Members have the opportunity to run, free of charge, short announcements of job openings in the EERI monthly Pulse e-newsletter and share news and events with EERI membership.
  • Each Subscribing Member firm or organization will be announced in the Pulse e-newsletter upon joining and featured once a year in the Subscribing Member Spotlight column, if desired.
  • Exclusive opportunities to meet with members of EERI reconnaissance teams.
  • The ability to contribute directly to programs of your choice through the reorganization of the Institute’s Endowment program.
